When the Majesteria are entrusted with a secret mission to bring the Royal Cinderflower to the Queen’s Coronation by pirate ship, Tristan (a passionate fan of pirate romance novels) joins them on a seafaring adventure full of sea shanties, billowing blouses, moonlit kisses, sea serpents and a rather unreasonable amount of cheese.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Written by Corwynn Rosewood in 2024 and 2025, Tristan and the Majesteria is Corwynn’s debut novel and was released in December of 2025.

The story is a light-hearted fantasy rom-com set in a fantastical world with Starlight magic, talking mice in fabulous outfits, flying carpets and way too much cheese.

Corwynn recommends the book for fans of Terry Pratchett and Diana Wynne Jones, as well as anyone who loved All Vampires Are Gay as it is full of Corwynn’s signature campy humour and complex yet heartwarming queer characters.

Corwynn hopes that this story will find a home with readers who love bisexual leads, women with swords, soft-hearted men with dangly earrings, sassy gays and campy fantasy.

Tristan and the Majesteria is available now in Hardcover, Paperback and eBook.

Corwynn says:

“This story is one I’ve wanted to tell for a long time. Ever since I read The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis over and over as a kid, I dreamed of writing my own book about a magical ship of adventurers visiting quirky islands. I grew up by the Pacific Ocean and there’s a deep magic to the sea that I think I’ll forever be entranced by. The idea that you could just hop on a ship and sail away from your old life, turn into someone new and exist in a new place is one I find tremendously exciting.”

Corwynn says:

“In my continuing exploration of gender norms in fantasy stories, for this one I was really interested in exploring the idea of swapping the genders of the typical gruff, masculine, edgy pirate Captain, and the innocent bookish girl being taken away and corrupted by him. But when I switched their genders I found something so much more interesting – real characters, multi-dimensional queer people who didn’t fit traditional ideas about men or women. I ended up just falling in love with Tristan and Wren, two totally unique characters who moved well beyond their original tropes.”

Corwynn says:

I love talking animals, and I think they belong in adult books and stories. Is that weird? I don’t know, some people tell me it’s weird, and some people just get it. I love mice (and cheese), and I’ve had the idea of a story with talking mage mice knocking around my head for years. I’m also just obsessed with the power dynamic shift; they are these tiny adorable creatures and yet they are far more powerful and important than most of the humans around them. I had so much fun exploring that experience and creating these three sassy, unique mice. Edwina, Marigold and Chica ended up being some of my favorite characters I’ve ever written.”
